All three Highland Vans models — Aoraki, Parbat, and Kinabalu — are built on the same Mercedes-Benz Sprinter high-roof chassis, with the same galley, the same Webasto diesel heater, and the same Core and Pro power options. Build quality is identical across the lineup. The choice comes down to two questions: who you travel with and how you actually use the van.

Choose the Aoraki if you travel solo or as a couple and bring serious gear. Queen Murphy bed, a large rear garage, and a 144” footprint that parks like a regular Sprinter. Starting at $145,000.

Choose the Kinabalu if the van also has to be the family car. Four belted seats, a rear dinette that converts to a day bed, and the optional TV/game-console package no other model offers — on the same easy 144” footprint. Starting at $150,000.

Choose the Parbat if you want the most capable extended off-grid rig. Interior shower cabin and the full tanked water system with hot water — standard on every Parbat — plus a permanent dinette, a Murphy bed, and the only roof that fits AC and a rooftop tent together, with the tent as an upgrade. Built for weeks off-grid, four-season travel, full-time living, and exciting off-road adventures with family and friends. Starting at $170,000.

If your trips are long weekends and you want a van that disappears into a normal parking spot, the Aoraki is the smarter buy. The 144” footprint daily-drives easily, and with the Murphy bed stowed, the rear garage still swallows bikes, skis, and camp gear for two.

If you’ll spend weeks at a time off-grid — or live in the van full-time — the Parbat’s 170” wheelbase earns its price. The interior shower cabin changes how the van feels in bad weather, and the dedicated dinette gives you a real place to work, eat, or just sit out a rainy afternoon. Short version: weekends, Aoraki; weeks, Parbat.

These are different vehicles for different families.

The Kinabalu is built for “the van is also the family car” — school runs Monday through Friday, the lake on Saturday, a road trip in the summer. Four belted seats, an easy-parking 144” footprint, and the optional TV/game-console package for long drives that no other model offers.

The Parbat is built for “the van is our adventure rig, and we already have a daily car at home.” The interior shower cabin, AC plus optional rooftop tent on the same roof, and extended-length overhead storage give a family room to genuinely live aboard for weeks at a time.

Pick the Kinabalu if the van has to be the everyday vehicle. Pick the Parbat if your family is serious about extended off-grid trips and ready to spec a dedicated rig.

Both are 144” high-roof builds at similar price points on the same chassis. The choice is almost entirely about what you want to see when you open the back doors: a garage or a living room.

Choose the Aoraki for a dedicated sleep space over a gear garage — the stowed Murphy bed gives instant access to bikes, boards, and storage drawers below. Choose the Kinabalu if you’d rather have a rear dinette that doubles as a hangout space (plus the optional TV and game console, a Kinabalu exclusive). Even for one person, the Kinabalu’s rear feels closer to a small lounge than a cargo area. There’s no wrong answer here.

Both trims are available on every model, so this choice cuts across the lineup. First, what doesn’t change: every Core build is a complete camper van — the full galley, bed system, Webasto heater, Wrappon Sunny dry-flush toilet, and a 5 kWh EcoFlow power system. The honest framing:

Choose Core if you mostly travel between hookups or take shorter trips with regular driving. It keeps the price down without touching build quality, and you can add upgrades à la carte as your trips get longer.

Choose Pro if you’re regularly off-grid for days at a time or plan to live in the van. Pro steps up to an 8.4 kWh Lithionics battery with a full Victron system — solar, GX Touch monitoring, 100 A dedicated alternator charging — and builds out the van to match: RecPro air conditioning, premium plumbing (35-gal fresh and 28-gal gray tanks, Isotemp hot water, outdoor shower — on the Aoraki and Kinabalu, Core uses portable jerry cans; the Parbat has premium plumbing standard on both trims), VanCompass suspension with BFG KO3s on Method 701 wheels, and the full Owl Vans exterior kit. Most full-time owners spec Pro.

The 8.4 kWh Lithionics battery is also available à la carte on a Core build — worth considering on the Kinabalu if you’ll run the TV/game console off-grid often.

Two answers. If a van in our inventory matches the spec you want, it’s available for immediate purchase — ask what’s on the floor right now. If not, a typical build takes about three months from reserving your build slot, and we’ll confirm your delivery window when you reserve. Either way, because we build standard layouts rather than one-off customs, you’re not waiting in a year-long custom queue.

Yes. Pricing on this page covers the complete vehicle — the new Mercedes-Benz Sprinter high-roof chassis and the full Highland Vans conversion. The only things not included are tax, title, registration, and any add-ons you select. (Already own a Sprinter? We quote those conversions individually — see “Can you convert a van I already own?”)

Yes. If you already own a Mercedes Sprinter high-roof, the layout follows the wheelbase: the Aoraki and the Kinabalu are 144” builds and the Parbat is a 170” build — and your conversion is covered by the same 3-year / 36,000-mile warranty as every Highland build. Since our published prices include a new chassis, customer-supplied vans are quoted individually: contact us with your van’s year, mileage, and condition and we’ll put together a conversion quote.

Three steps: book a design consultation (or just call) to lock in your model, spec, and add-ons; reserve your build slot with a $10,000 deposit; and approve your final configuration before the build starts. Payment is straightforward: 70% is due when your build starts — your deposit counts toward it — and the remaining 30% at delivery. If you’re financing, apply first. Once you’re approved, your lender sets the down payment. The $10,000 reserves your build slot in the meantime. From there we send progress updates until pickup day at our Elk Grove Village shop — typically about three months later. The full walkthrough is on our Process page.

Many of our owners are not local. We’re in Elk Grove Village, IL — 15 minutes from O’Hare — and many buyers fly in, do a full orientation walkthrough at the shop, and drive their van home as the first road trip. Every build is backed by our 3-year / 36,000-mile warranty. Warranty work happens at our shop, and if you are out of state we can coordinate a professional shop near you to carry out the repair, covered by us under the same warranty. The Sprinter chassis carries Mercedes-Benz’s separate factory coverage — a 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty plus 5-year/100,000-mile powertrain and corrosion warranties — serviceable at any Mercedes van dealer nationwide, so chassis issues never require a trip back to Chicago. By special request, yes. We can adapt our layouts to a Ford Transit high-roof. Our published pricing covers a new Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis, so a Transit build is quoted individually.
